Programs & Initiatives

Most of the work within RLadies+ happens through the chapter organisers around the world. The global organisation supports them with technical infrastructure and a network they can turn to for help and guidance. The global team also coordinates activities that span all chapters — creating pathways to the international network, increasing visibility of RLadies+ actions, and spotlighting minority genders in tech and R.

Community Slack

The community Slack is open to anyone who identifies as a woman or gender minority and is interested in R. It is a space for sharing information, learning, and connecting with other RLadies+ members.

The Code of Conduct applies to keep the space welcoming for everyone.

Abstract Review

RLadies+ Global runs a review and feedback programme for conference abstracts and funding applications, covering both R-related and domain-specific conferences. 80 international reviewers provide constructive feedback on topics, pitch, phrasing, and subject matter — helping members put their best work forward.

Estimated time commitment for reviewers: 1 review per year.

Rotating Curator (RoCur)

RLadies+ RoCur is a rotating Bluesky account that features a different community member each week. The programme has two goals: to maintain active engagement on Bluesky, and to spotlight the work of minority gender R users across professions and experience levels — from newcomers to long-time contributors.

International Women's Day

RLadies+ Global has coordinated International Women’s Day campaigns to encourage more people from gender minorities to participate in the community and promote their work. The organisers of these campaigns have written blog posts about each one.

YouTube Channel

The RLadies+ YouTube channel features meetup recordings from chapters around the world, including playlists in Spanish , Portuguese , and Turkish .
